Russia’s War on Ukraine

Putin’s dirty bomb?

Fascist Russia is currently occupying two active nuclear power plants in Ukraine: Chernobyl (site of the 1986 disaster) and Zaporizhzhia (Europe’s biggest nuclear plant with 6 reactors).

Russian soldiers continue to hold hostage the workers of these two nuclear power plants and force them to work without a break, while constantly threatening and humiliating them. In Zaporizhzhya, the staff was forced under gunpoint to record bizarre videos in support of Russian aggression. These people are very tired and very afraid, if they make a mistake all Europe will pay the price. If Russia was indeed only interested in controlling the plants, they would have sent in their own operating teams to replace the Ukrainian hostages.

We can only hope the Russians controlling the plant don’t get drunk on stolen booze and start executing civilians out of boredom. I am not exaggerating, this is what they do elsewhere in Ukraine.

In this regard, UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on 8 March:

“Ukraine told the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) today that it was becoming increasingly urgent and important for the safe management of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) to rotate some 210 technical personnel and guards who have been working there since Russian forces took control of the site almost two weeks ago, Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said.

In contrast to the current situation for staff at Ukraine’s operating nuclear power plants who are rotating regularly, the same shift has been on duty at the Chornobyl NPP since the day before the Russian military entered the site of the 1986 accident on 24 February, in effect living there for the past 13 days, the regulator said.

The Ukrainian regulator added that the staff had access to food and water, and medicine to a limited extent. However, the situation for the staff was worsening. It asked the IAEA to lead the international support needed to prepare a plan for replacing the current personnel and for providing the facility with an effective rotation system.

Director General Grossi has repeatedly stressed that staff operating nuclear facilities must be able to rest and work in regular shifts, stating this is crucial for overall nuclear safety. Their capacity to make decisions free of undue pressure is among the seven indispensable pillars of nuclear safety and security he outlined at a meeting of the IAEA’s Board of Governors on 2 March, convened to address the safety, security and safeguards implications of the situation in Ukraine.

“I’m deeply concerned about the difficult and stressful situation facing staff at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant and the potential risks this entails for nuclear safety. I call on the forces in effective control of the site to urgently facilitate the safe rotation of personnel there,” he said today.

The handling of nuclear material at the Chornobyl NPP has been put on hold for the time being, the regulator added. The site, located in an Exclusion Zone, includes decommissioned reactors as well as radioactive waste facilities. The regulatory authority said it could only communicate with the plant via e-mail.

To help protect the country’s nuclear facilities, the Director General has expressed his readiness to travel to the Chornobyl NPP, or elsewhere, to secure the commitment to the safety and security of all Ukraine’s nuclear facilities from the parties of the conflict.

The Director General also indicated that remote data transmission from safeguards monitoring systems installed at the Chornobyl NPP had been lost. The Agency is looking into the status of safeguards monitoring systems in other locations in Ukraine and will provide further information soon.

Regarding the status of Ukraine’s operational nuclear power plants, the regulator said eight of the country’s 15 reactors were operating, including two at the Zaporizhzhya NPP controlled since last week by Russian forces, and that the plants’ personnel were working in shifts. Radiation levels at the sites were normal, it said.“

And then the Chernobyl plant lost electricity connection after a Russian attack. IAEA stated on 9 March:

“Ukraine informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) today that the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) had been disconnected from the electricity grid and lost its supply of external power, two weeks after Russian forces took control of the site of the 1986 accident, Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said.

The Director General expressed deep concern about this development as the “secure off-site power supply from the grid for all nuclear sites” was one of seven indispensable pillars of nuclear safety and security that he outlined at a meeting of the IAEA’s Board of Governors on 2 March, convened to address the safety, security and safeguards implications of the situation in Ukraine.

In the case of the Chornobyl NPP, however, he said the IAEA agreed with the Ukrainian regulator that its disconnection from the grid would not have a critical impact on essential safety functions at the site, where various radioactive waste management facilities are located. Specifically, regarding the site’s spent fuel storage facility, the volume of cooling water in the pool is sufficient to maintain effective heat removal from the spent fuel without a supply of electricity. The site also has reserve emergency power supplies with diesel generators and batteries.

Nevertheless, the lack of power is likely to lead to a further deterioration of operational radiation safety at the site and create additional stress for around 210 technical experts and guards who have not been able to rotate for the past two weeks, in effect living there around the clock, Director General Grossi added.”

Those are 20 thousands spent nuclear rods not being cooled anymore. But IAEA doesn’t sound too concerned because a) Russia is one of biggest IAEA members, and b) that same day they lost remote contact to Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhya anyway. If you don’t see it, it’s not happening.

Bombing hospitals

Message from the town of Irpen, near Kyiv (source UNIAN). This is also happening in other besieged towns, including the half a million city Mariupol.

Russian troops annihilated the Irpin city clinic and a new medical center – ex-mayor of Irpin Karplyuk

He reports that there is a humanitarian catastrophe in Irpen and in neighboring towns and villages. Russian troops do not allow local residents to leave their homes. Sometimes residential buildings are fired upon by invaders from different types of weapons. Some of the medicines and previously imported humanitarian aid were seized by the occupiers. The occupiers threatened to kill the mayor and demanded to surrender Irpin. There is no mobile communication, electricity, water supply. There are corpses in the basements and on the streets all over the Irpen district, the occupiers do not allow even the Red Cross to take away the bodies, they fire at humanitarian aid vehicles.
The invaders are forming a line for further attack on the capital along the Gostomel-Bucha-Irpen-Gorenichi border. The local population is being starved and frozen in basements, held as hostages.”

In the besieged half a million city of Mariupol, a maternity clinic was deliberately bombed and destroyed.

BBC reports on the aftermath of the 9 March attack:

“The deputy mayor of the besieged city of Mariupol in southern Ukraine has told the BBC, three people – including one child – were killed when Russia bombed a maternity hospital on Wednesday.
At least seventeen others were reportedly injured, some of whom included pregnant women.
“I’m absolutely sure they know about this facility and this is their third hospital that they are destroying in this city,” Sergei Orlov told the BBC.
He said a 300-bed hospital dedicated to treating Covid patients had been destroyed by artillery shelling the previous day, along with a blood-collection centre in Mariupol.
“I’m absolutely sure (these are their) targets,” Orlov added.
The World Health Organization says it’s verified at least 18 different attacks on health facilities in Ukraine since the invasion began.”

Meanwhile, Mariupol victims are being buried in mass graves, the city is besieged and Russia doesn’t allow any food and medicine deliveries, killing everyone who tries to do it. Fascist Russia deliberately targets Ukrainian civilians and especially children. Putin’s is to exterminate Ukrainians as a people. The world must finally recognise these crimes as a genocide.

But instead, the German public broadcaster Tagesschau is blaming the Ukrainians (sic!) for the Mariupol maternity clinic bombing, their reference being the “prorussian separatists” aka fascist mass murderers in Donetsk. Later on Russia’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov proudly admitted that yes, Russia did bomb the maternity clinic, which he said was actually full of armed Nazis. The Tagesschau then ran with that explanation.

Ethnically oriented bioweapon birds

For some bizarre reason, Fascist Russia’s officials and its propaganda media started to push the insanely false narrative that Ukraine was building biological weapons, paid of course by USA, with the goal of attacking Russia (Ukraine doesn’t even have a BSL-4 lab). The Russian dissident news-site Meduza (exiled to Latvia) reports on a briefing by the head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops (RCBZ) of the Russian army, Igor Kirillov:

“In particular, he spoke about the UP-4 project, which was supposedly carried out until 2020 in laboratories in Kyiv, Kharkov and Odessa and studied the possibility of spreading especially dangerous infections through migratory birds, including highly pathogenic H5N1 influenza and Newcastle disease.

Kirillov said that 145 biological species were studied as part of the project, since Ukraine has a unique geographical position where transcontinental migration routes intersect. “At the same time, at least two species of migratory birds were identified, the routes of which pass mainly through the territory of Russia,” he said.”

Migratory birds trained to attack Russia, what kind of idiot audience do these idiots aim to scare here??? I am absolutely disappointed these fascist alcoholics haven’t thought of blaming Ukraine for COVID-19. Oh wait:

“He also mentioned the R-781 project, where bats were considered as carriers of biological weapons. “Among the priorities are the study of bacterial and viral pathogens that can be transmitted from bats to humans: the causative agents of plague, leptospirosis, brucellosis, as well as coronaviruses and filoviruses,” Kirillov said. […]

Finally, Kirillov stated that US biolabs in Ukraine could be used to develop “bioagents capable of selectively targeting various ethnic populations.”

Russia claims Americans and Ukrainians are making bioweapons which selectively target ethnic Russians! Of course this is biologically impossible, but for a racist regime which thinks Russians are a superior master race, this paranoid idiocy makes perfect sense. Lavrov reiterated that idiotic claim of “ethnically oriented” bioweapons also, while defending the attack on the birth clinic and insisting that “we never attacked Ukraine“.

It’s not funny. There is the real danger that Russia could use this bioweapon lie to attack Ukraine with chemical or even nuclear weapons.

COVID-19

COVID vaccines cause cancer!

Yes, it was published in Frontiers, in November 2021.

Serge Goldman, Dominique Bron, Thomas Tousseyn, Irina Vierasu, Laurent Dewispelaere, Pierre Heimann, Elie Cogan and Michel Goldman Rapid Progression of Angioimmunoblastic T Cell Lymphoma Following BNT162b2 mRNA Vaccine Booster Shot: A Case Report Front. Med. (2021) | https://doi.org/10.3389/fmed.2021.798095

From the study by the Université Libre de Bruxelles:

“A 66-year-old man with no significant medical history except for hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and type 2 diabetes presented on September 1, 2021 with cervical lymphadenopathies that became recently apparent during a flu-like syndrome. The two doses of BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine had been administered, respectively, 5 and 6 months earlier in the left deltoid. […]

Considering a presumptive diagnosis of stage IV lymphoma, a left cervical lymph node biopsy was performed. Pathological examination revealed residual atrophic germinal centers, surrounded by an expanded paracortical area composed of an atypical T-cell infiltrate with clear cell morphology, expressing TFH cell markers (CD3, CD4, PD1, ICOS, BCL6, CXCL13) and a loss of CD7. The paracortical area contained an increased number of high-endothelial venules, supported by an increased number of follicular dendritic cell networks, with some foci of EBV+ B-cell immunoblastic proliferation in the background (Figure 2). These features highly suggested a diagnosis of AngioImmunoblastic T cell Lymphoma (AITL), pattern 2.”

The authors conclude:

“This observation, which has been posted as a pre-print on the SSRN platform (18), suggests that vaccination with the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine might induce rapid progression of AITL. Dedicated studies are needed to determine whether this case can be extrapolated to populations of patients with AITL or other peripheral T cell lymphoma involving TFH cells.

Patient Perspective

The patient is the corresponding author of this case report. He hopes that this report will incentivize investigations to clarify the possible impact of anti-SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination on the course of AITL. He remains convinced that mRNA vaccines represent very efficient products with a favorable benefit-risk ratio.”

The linked SSRN preprint has been deleted by authors, but here is an archived version of the abstract. The corresponding author and the patient in question, the Belgian professor Michel Goldman, also happens to be the Editor-in-Chief of this same Frontiers journal where his study was published. Goldman previously pretended to me to be concerned with the fraudulent proxalutamide paper from Brazilian killer clowns which his journal published, and then obviously did nothing. Now what with Goldman’s own antivaxxery, his support for these crooks makes perfect sense.

Just so you are reminded what kind of pieces of sh*t these proxalutamide quacks are:

Lab Leak Theory

Unsurprisingly, NIH has been helping the EcoHealth Alliance of Peter Daszak to cover up tracks. After all, NIH has been funding gain-of-function coronavirus research in Wuhan, in fact exactly the kind of experiments were proposed by EcoHealth Alliance and their Wuhan Institute of Virology partners in grant applications which would have possibly created COVID-19. To release the evidence is embarrassing, and NIH fights against the nosy journalists in court.

The Intercept has a lengthy update on their investigation of the NIH cover-up:

“Peter Daszak is the head of EcoHealth Alliance, a New York-based nonprofit that partners with labs around the world to research emerging diseases. He addressed his organization’s controversial grant documents in a Zoom interview and a series of emails with The Intercept. Daszak said that EcoHealth filed a progress report to NIAID in June 2021 for a grant called “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.” The filing of the report is supported by an agency email recently released by NIH to The Intercept following the Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. Daszak alluded to additional grant documents in a letter to NIH published by the Wall Street Journal last October, but he did not give details at the time.

NIH regulations require grant recipients to file yearly updates detailing experiments and explaining how U.S. government money was spent. EcoHealth’s progress reports have been front and center in calls for greater transparency from the agency, and in public sparring between the agency and Daszak over work conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which was a sub-awardee on the multimillion-dollar grant. Other NIH communications newly released to The Intercept add to previous evidence of oversight issues at the agency.

Meanwhile, Alina Chan continues to debunk the two preprints which were celebrated in all the media worldwide for postulating that COVID-19 originated at the Wuhan “wet market”. Short version: the US preprint by America’s top virologists was scientificality outright trash, and the Chinese preprint attributed January 2020 hospital patient samples to market visitors. Long Twitter thread:

At the same time, the pundits continue telling you what and how to think.

TIME magazine brought a piece titled “Knowing the Origins of COVID-19 Won’t Change Much” by Robert C. Gallo and Dean T. Jamison. The eminent authors educate us that it is none of our business where COVID-19 came from, and we should give scientists more more for gain-of-function virus research instead:

“There is much scientific interest in understanding the origins of SARS-CoV-2. And, let’s be honest, it would be nice to know. At the same time knowing origins may add little to what we already know in terms of addressing Delta, Omicron and whatever might come next. The best way forward may be to minimize the distraction of a politicized attempt to assess origins while, instead, investing in long-term international collaborative endeavors on SARS-CoV-2 and in preparation for future epidemics and pandemics.”

The author Dean Jamison is on the payroll of Peter Daszak, that was of course not discolsed.

The other author, the octogenarian Robert Gallo, is a liar, research fraudster and a thief who tried to steal credit for the discovery of HIV virus and first AIDS blood test, while faking data (read here). He only avoided conviction because the Reagan cabinet rigged the HHS-ORI investigation to have the earlier misconduct findings against Gallo dropped and overturned.

Science Breakthroughs

Drink Wine!

A press release by American Heart Association, so it cannot be more authoritative:

Drinking Wine With Meals Associated With Lower Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

  • A study including nearly 312,000 current drinkers suggests consuming moderate amounts of alcohol (no more than 14 grams per day for women and 28 grams per day for men), especially wine, with meals was associated with a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Lower type 2 diabetes risk occurred only when people drank alcohol with meals, not when alcohol was consumed alone.
  • Only moderate amounts of alcohol had a positive impact on the development of type 2 diabetes – up to one glass of wine daily for women and up to two glasses daily for men.

You want to see the peer-reviewed paper? There is none, that joke is actually

“…preliminary research to be presented at the American Heart Association’s Epidemiology, Prevention, Lifestyle & Cardiometabolic Health Conference 2022. The meeting was be held in-person in Chicago and virtually Tuesday, March 1 – Friday, March 4, 2022, and offers the latest in population-based science related to the promotion of cardiovascular health and the prevention of heart disease and stroke.”

Never mind, here is the medical advice from the author Hao Ma, from the Tulane University Obesity Research Center in New Orleans:

“A key for those who already drink alcohol is moderation. Moderate drinking is defined as one glass of wine or other alcoholic beverage daily for women and up to two glasses daily for men. That works out to be up to 14 grams, or about 150 ml, of wine a day for women and up to 28 grams, or about 300 ml, of wine daily for men, according to Ma. […] “The message from this study is that drinking moderate amounts of wine with meals may prevent type 2 diabetes if you do not have another health condition that may be negatively affected by moderate alcohol consumption and in consultation with your doctor,” Ma said. “

Robert H. Eckel, the past president of American Heart Association toasts to the study already:

“These data suggest that it’s not the alcohol with meals but other ingredients in wine, perhaps antioxidants, that may be the factor in potentially reducing new-onset type 2 diabetes. While the type of wine, red versus white, needs to be defined, and validation of these findings and mechanisms of benefit are needed, the results suggest that if you are consuming alcohol with meals, wine may be a better choice”.

300ml of wine a day means 3 bottles a week. Doctor’s orders, or you’ll get diabetes!

Another silly cancer cure

We all can use some more comedy relief, so here is a cancer cure for you from Rice University. New Atlas informs:

“A new type of implant developed at Rice University tackles both these issues, carrying the cellular machinery needed to produce and deliver continuous doses of anti-cancer compounds, and doing so with such potency that they took out 100 percent of ovarian tumors in mice in the space of a week.

The bioengineers behind this promising new form of immunotherapy treatment for cancer describe it as a “drug factory,” in that once it is in place, it can go on generating the compounds needed to take out tumors all on its own. The implants consist of tiny beads the size of a pinhead, which are packed with carefully selected cells and encased within a protective shell.

The cells inside these beads are engineered to produce a natural compound called interleukin-2, a cytokine that causes white blood cells to spring into action to fight cancer.”

This is what it looks like:

Jazaeri , Omid Veiseh Clinically translatable cytokine delivery platform for eradication of intraperitoneal tumors Science Advances (2022) doi: 10.1126/sciadv.abm1032

“….we developed a clinically translatable cytokine delivery platform composed of polymer-encapsulated human ARPE-19 (RPE) cells that produce natural cytokines. Tumor-adjacent administration of these capsules demonstrated predictable dose modulation with spatial and temporal control and enabled peritoneal cancer immunotherapy without systemic toxicities. Interleukin-2 (IL2)–producing cytokine factory treatment eradicated peritoneal tumors in ovarian and colorectal mouse models. Furthermore, computational pharmacokinetic modeling predicts clinical translatability to humans.”

The clinical trials are just a matter of time, as New Atlas mentions:

“According to the team, the technology could be adapted to use against other cancers by packing the beads with different cell types to induce different immune responses. They say the treatment could be ready for human clinical trials later in 2022.”

Cancers love inflammation, so why not injecting some cultured cells into the patients peritoneal cavity and see what happens. If you are dying of sepsis, with or without the magical IL-6, cancer surely stops being an imminent threat to your health.

Scholarly Publishing

Koren Retraction

One more paper by the toxic crook Gideon Koren has been retracted. Actually, the University of Toronto announced to investigate all of his papers for fraud, but then they decided that the suffering Koren’s crimes brought upon many Canadian patients, families and even his university colleagues was so excessive, they couldn’t possibly punish their former professor for that. Thanks to his fellow crooks among the University of Toronto leadership, Koren retracted only some papers (instead of all), and enjoys his new job as professor in Israel.

Here is the recently retracted paper:

Gideon Koren , Yael Barer , Yusuf Cem Kaplan Fetal safety of medications used in treating infertility Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology (2020) doi: 10.1080/17512433.2020.1803738

“Since publication, significant concerns have been raised about the integrity of the data and reported results in the article. When approached for an explanation, the authors did not provide their original data or any necessary supporting information. As verifying the validity of published work is core to the integrity of the scholarly record, we are therefore retracting the article. The corresponding author listed in this publication has been informed.”

Again, University of Toronto is not just not arsed about this fraud, they are in fact still busy harassing the original Koren whistleblower, Nancy Olivieri.

Springer Nature & Chinese fraud

Springer Nature told the sleuth Cheshire to get lost and not bother their valued Chinese business partners again with his silly fraud findings.

This paper in a BMC journal is most obviously fake, possibly from a papermill even:

Junwei Zhang , Suxia Yang , Fang Chen , Huicong Li , Baoping Chen Ginkgetin aglycone ameliorates LPS-induced acute kidney injury by activating SIRT1 via inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway Cell & Bioscience (2017) doi: 10.1186/s13578-017-0173-3

Cheshire notified the publisher on 28 February 2022 about this and other fake papers. This is what Rebecca Pearce, “Publisher” at Springer Nature, wrote to Cheshire a week later:

The below messages regarding concerns with images in several Springer Nature publications (including Cell & Bioscience, Cellular and Molecular Biology Letters and Biology Open) have been received. We will investigate the matter fully according to COPE guidelines.

The next day, Pearce announced the outcome of the COPE-approved investigation about the Zhang et al 2017 study:

The Editors have carefully assessed the images in question and do not see any need for concern or correction. The patterns within the tissue were similar, which is not necessarily due to manipulation.

The responsible editor-in-chief is Yun-Fai Chris Lau, professor at the University of California, San Francisco. His three associate chief editors, Dong-Yan JinLin Mei, and Ying E Zhang are all US-based professors from China.

Apparently, Springer Nature doesn’t do anything about Chinese papers without orders from China.

It also minimize my brain volume! Yay?

Even light-to-moderate drinking is associated with harm to the brain, according to a new study. Researchers analyzed data from more than 36,000 adults that found a link between drinking and reduced brain volume that begins at an average consumption level of less than one alcohol unit a day — the equivalent of about half a beer — and rises with each additional drink.

It is towards my opinion remarkable that the authors do not reflect on the many comments at https://pubpeer.com/publications/EFDB755C20C351E0077D38D67B933F It is towards my opinion remarkable that it is not indicated at ref [1] that this article is retracted.
